Principal, Shel Hanser

Shel Hanser became the principal of Billings Central in 2002, and is the longest tenured principal in the history of the school. He earned both his BA in Business Education and his MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana. Before coming to BCCHS, Mr. Hanser was a teacher at Loyola Sacred Heart for four years, was assistant principal there for three years, and coached for 10 years. He is certified 5-12 in both business education and administration. Mr. Hanser was awarded the ‘Award of Excellence’ from MSU-Billings, and was also honored as one of the Billings Gazette’s ‘Forty Under 40’ recipients. Mr. Hanser was born and raised in Billings and is a BCS alumnus, having graduated from BCCHS in 1989. He attended college and lived in Missoula for 12 years before moving back to Billings. He is married and has three children, and he enjoys camping with his family and playing golf. Mr. Hanser’s personal goal is to ‘pay it forward’.

Assistant Principal, Jim Hawbaker

Jim Hawbaker serves as the Assistant Principal at BCCHS. He received his BA and continuing education from the University of Montana. Mr. Hawbaker is married with two children, and he enjoys spending time with his family and watching Grizzly football.
