What Is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase Scrip, you’re purchasing gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use Scrip to purchase everyday items such as food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our organization.
The earning periods follow the school year calendar. This means you are actually earning the required amount during the current school year. Your contributions accrue from June 1 through May 31. The current fundraising requirement for each family is $495, which can be earned through Scrip, the Jog-A-Thon or both.
Once you have made a profit of $495 through SCRIP or the JAT, you begin to earn a tuition credit. You may choose to apply 50% of every dollar earned over $495 toward your next year’s tuition. Tuition credit is accrued annually from June 1 – May 31, and does not carry forward from year to year.
How to Participate:
1) Pick up an order form:
Forms are available by clicking the link at the top of this page, and at each school building attached to the black metal Scrip boxes. Boxes are located by the main office in each school.
2) Place an order:
Simply fill in the blanks on the order form, and attach your check to BCS Scrip. Another option is to order at ShopWithScrip.com. Information on how to set up an account with the school code can be found under the ‘shop online’ tab above. Many cards are available that you can reload and print out once the account is established.
Scrip on Demand is also available. Stop in at the Scrip office at Billings Central Catholic High School, or call during office hours to pick up your scrip. Hours and locations for Scrip on Demand can be found above under ‘Scrip Hours’.
3) Drop off:
Place the check and order form in any of the Scrip boxes. The last pick-up is Monday at 3:00 if you wish to receive your order by Thursday of the same week. Be sure to fill in all required information, including a daytime phone number where you may be reached if any questions arise regarding your order.
4) Pick up:
Orders may be picked up after 2:00pm on Thursday. The secretary at each building will have your envelope. If you need to make other arrangements, contact the scrip office at 867-4081.
We also have several participating local vendors from whom we purchase directly. The local vendors are in Bold type on the first page of the order form, and are also listed on the back of the form. We thank them for their generosity and ask that you support them. If you or someone you know is interested in adding their company to our Scrip vendor list, call or email the Scrip office.
• Please call or email with any additional questions you may have. There are over 100 participating vendors, both local and national, willing to donate 1.5-20% to our school when we purchase their SCRIP, at no cost to us whatsoever. Please participate in this easy way to make free money for our schools!
• How SCRIP generates revenue for you: The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount from 2-15% or more – is our organization’s revenue.
• Scrip is “shopping cart fundraising”: Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, hotels, cruises, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip!
